ChatGPT Work
OpenAI · Checked 2026-10-04
OWhat It Does
ChatGPT Work is an agent mode for delegating entire tasks to ChatGPT. Given a goal, it creates a plan, gathers information using tools such as files, plugins, and a web browser, then produces documents, spreadsheets, presentations, or reports ready for review. Before important actions, it pauses to request approval or additional information.

Who It Is For (Site Operator's Opinion)
Suitable for people who want to delegate everyday work such as creating documents, tables, and presentations, or researching and organizing web information, directly within ChatGPT. Existing ChatGPT users can start without an additional signup.
Tasks You Can Delegate
- Create presentation decks from notes and materials
- Create spreadsheets comparing options and recommendations
- Research through web search and browsing, and write analytical reports
- Regularly check Slack, Google Drive, and other sources to automatically refresh weekly updates (scheduled tasks)
- Build websites and apps (Sites), and generate images and visualizations
Where to Use It
In ChatGPT on the web, mobile app, or desktop app (macOS·Windows·Linux), select ChatGPT and switch the toggle above the input box to 'Work'. On the web, it runs in OpenAI's cloud environment; in the desktop app, you can also choose local execution using your computer's files, apps, and browser.

Is It Free to Use?
Official pricing documentation states that 'ChatGPT Work and Codex are included in Free·Go·Plus·Pro·Business·Edu·Enterprise plans'. However, Free·Go access is rolling out gradually through the desktop app with GPT-6 Luna, and cloud browsing is unavailable on Free·Go. The feature comparison table lists web-based ChatGPT Work only for Plus·Pro·Business·Enterprise.
Supported Regions
Official documentation only states that 'features vary by plan, platform, region, rollout status, and workspace settings'. Cloud browsing is available in all regions on paid plans other than Free·Go. Computer Use and Record & Replay are available 'only in certain regions', but which regions could not be confirmed. No separate mention of South Korea, Japan, or the EU was found.
